MAL is a new component for MAMBO. The name MAL stands for Mambo Access Levels. Using MAL you can define the access level a user needs to have for a menu item, a component, etc.
 
It is separated in 3 parts:
  1. the MAL component; the admin section where you can define the access levels, create access levels etc.
  2. the MAL module; replaces the Mambo mainmenu so only the menu items where the user has access to are displayed.
  3. a index.php file which needs to be copied into your templates directory. This file calls prevents that users can access a page directly by typing in the url when they have no access.
