Making changes to the core is very dangerous. Incorrect changes can make your site disfunctional or can create security wholes.

So allways be carefull and backup your files and work first.

Be aware also that a core patch have to be redone when you install a new release of Mambo and that you allways have to verify that this core patch does work on this new release.
